Bosque County Jail Overview
Bosque County Jail and Sheriff's Office is operated by the Bosque County Sheriff's Office in Meridian. The official jail page states that it is a 64-bed facility housing male and female inmates. The same page identifies Jail Captain Darren Artzt as Jail Administrator and describes him as both a licensed Peace Officer and licensed Corrections Officer.
The facility holds people brought in on criminal charges, pretrial detainees awaiting magistrate, bond, or court, county-sentenced inmates, and out-of-county contract inmates when Bosque has available space. That contract role is not just theoretical. TCJS reported 20 in-state contract inmates in the June 1, 2026 Bosque population count.
Bosque County Jail Capacity
The jail's official capacity is 64 beds. TCJS population data for June 1, 2026 listed 56 people in custody, or 87.5% of rated capacity. The first-day monthly counts in January through June 2026 ranged from 51 to 59 people, so the facility was below capacity but often close to full during the period reviewed.
TCJS notes that county jails submit the underlying population data and that the data can be updated. Treat TCJS rows as official reporting snapshots, not a live head count for a person currently in a cell.
Lookup Bosque County Jail Inmates
No official public online roster was located for Bosque County Jail and Sheriff's Office. The inmate lookup process therefore starts with the jail phone and records channels rather than a web search box. For written records, use the Sheriff's Office public information request process under the Texas Public Information Act.
- Call the jail at (254) 435-9966 for current custody direction.
- Provide the full legal name, approximate age or date of birth, arrest date, arresting agency, or case number if known.
- Submit a written public information request for booking sheets, arrest records, or jail records that are not available by phone.
- Use District Clerk, re:SearchTX, iDocket, or JP court channels for filed court charges and dispositions.
- Use TDCJ, BOP, ICE, or Texas VINE only when those systems match the person's custody status.
For warrant status, the rules are stricter. The sheriff's tickets and warrants page says possible warrant checks require in-person appearance with valid identification, and warrant information is not released by phone.
Bosque County Jail Contact
The jail and sheriff's office share the same public address. Visitors should use the FM 2840 jail address for jail business, not the courthouse address on South Main Street. Call first for visits, bond questions, records pickup, mail, money deposits, or warrant checks because several public-facing rules were not posted.

Bosque County Jail Visits
Official Bosque County pages reviewed did not publish a full visitation schedule, visitor approval form, video visitation vendor, dress code, child-visitor rule, attorney visit procedure, or visit length. That should be treated as a research finding, not filled with generic jail rules.

Bosque County Jail Mail Money
Mail, phone, video, and commissary details were also not published in official sheriff or county sources reviewed. Do not assume any vendor, fee, deposit limit, or mail format. Bosque County Jail Booking
The official jail page says a person brought into the jail on a criminal charge is booked into the facility and housed in a temporary holding cell. Within 24 hours, a judge magistrates the person. The page explains that the person is told what they are charged with and is given a chance to bond out based on the judge's bond.
If the person cannot make bond, the jail page says the person remains in jail until bond is made or the person goes to court. Bond depends on the severity of the crime. The sheriff site does not publish a bond schedule, accepted payment methods, a bail-bond-company list, or an online bond-payment portal.
Bosque County Jail Records
For jail records not found online, use the sheriff records request form. The form asks for requester contact details, a description of the public records requested, whether the requester wants to view or obtain copies, and whether copies should be picked up, mailed, faxed, or emailed. It also includes a redaction agreement for confidential information such as dates of birth.
The Sheriff's Office records page says requests can be made in person, by email to swilson@bosquesheriff.com, or by fax to (254) 435-2245. If records cannot be produced within 10 business days, the requester is notified of the delay reason and estimated availability date. If the office believes an exception applies, it may seek an Attorney General ruling.
Bosque County Jail Programs
The strongest local program detail is the Inmate Work Crew Program. The sheriff jail page says Sheriff Trace Hendricks oversees it and Deputy James Findley is in charge. The crew helps county commissioners with road repairs when requested, maintains law-enforcement-center grounds, and works on small projects for nonprofit organizations.
Official sources reviewed did not publish local GED, vocational, substance-abuse, reentry, tablet, grievance, medical-request, or mental-health program details. The jail is subject to Texas Commission on Jail Standards rules, but no Bosque-specific accreditation statement, consent decree, or public jail conditions report was found.
Bosque Jail Transfer Paths
A person may leave Bosque County Jail without becoming easy to find in a local roster. After sentencing, a person may be held temporarily in the county jail until transport to a TDCJ unit or supervision status. For sentenced Texas custody, use the TDCJ Offender Information Search.
Federal sentenced custody is searched through the BOP Inmate Locator. Immigration detention is searched through ICE ODLS. Texas VINE can provide custody and release notifications when a participating record is available, but it is not a full replacement for the jail desk.
Note: Confirm custody and visit rules with the jail before traveling because Bosque does not publish a live roster or visit schedule.
